I was born and bred in Port Elizabeth. I am married with 2 children aged 18 and 13. I studied Human Resources and worked in this field in the earlier days of my working career. I then spent the greater part of my working life in large corporate finance with First National Bank and Standard Bank. I also spent a short time in the bond origination field. I feel my past working background has equipped me fantastically well to offer my current property clients a well rounded, professional service in my property dealings.
To understand people and property is a skill that can be developed or it can be innate in one's character. After more than 20 years in the Labour Relations Industry within the Banking Industry Charmaine believes that she has the drive and determination, coupled with follow through and tenacity to achieve the goals of her clients. Whilst only entering the Real Estate Industry in 2007, "I understand the Port Elizabeth market having been involved in a private capacity for over 30 years buying and selling property on a small scale." I am NQF4 & NQF5 qualified which in itself reassures our clients of our professionalism. I have chosen IPC as a preferred Real Estate Company owing to the vast data base which enables me to source a vast number of properties for clients, be they buyers or sellers . In the 4.5 years that I have been in this industry many clients have sold and/or purchased again and others have the knowledge and assurance that I am just a "call away". Walking, travelling, reading and cooking for my family and friends are my therapeutic retreats.
I have lived all over South Africa and has been in Port Elizabeth for the last 21 years. I graduated from the University of Stellenbosch and did post grad studies through UNISA. Following a career as a journalist, public relations officer and school teacher I decided to venture out in a new career as an Estate Agent. After five years with Seeff Properties, Port Elizabeth I joined Independent Property Consultants as a principal estate agent. Although selling property is a business and I believe in having all the knowledge that you can about our industry, property is also very much a people's business to me. I have therefore chosen the motto of The Matchmaker: Matching Properties to People. I give people my full attention and really try and establish what needs are before working with people in finding the right property for them and my sellers will not have to be stressed when selling through me. I work in all areas of Port Elizabeth and lives in Sunridge Park. I enjoy working with sellers as well as buyers.
Since 1977 I had the pleasure of matching the needs of Buyers and Sellers. The journey to help Buyers to find the most suitable property was always and still is an enjoyable experience. I am not a High Pressure Sales person. I believe people will know when they find the right property I do not need to talk them into it. The excitement in their voices and body language is always a dead giveaway. After securing an offer from the Buyer the Seller is approached. Because I believe in a Happy Seller, Happy Buyer and Happy Agent, I have found over the years that most of the offers presented have been accepted by the Sellers. Fairness to all is very important to me. Once a deal has been signed up my job isn't done. I put the Buyer in touch with the right people so that they can organise the finances needed. (Most of my buyers are pre-qualified before I present their offer) All the relevant documents is collected and then forwarded to the Transferring Attorney. I also look after those little issues that might come up to sour a deal, even after transfer, if neccesary. I don't just pocket my commission and then forget about my clients. Many of my clients have become dear friends over the years. When I list a property it is important to make sure that it is offered to the market at a realistic price. Price can make or break a deal. I make extensive use of comparative market information (sales of similar properties that took place in the previous months) also my knowledge of what is happening in the various areas that I serve ensure that I can guide a Seller to the correct price for his property. I believe in Professionalism and Trust and hard work hence I require a Sole Mandate when I list a property. When I take on a mandate I commit and undertake to market the property to the best of my ability. I am known for very good service and always give 100%. The repeat business I get is evidence of that. An open mandate can lead to all sorts of problems for the Seller. The Sole Mandate protects a Seller and also ensure that their property is marketed properly. Most agents, and I do too, share on their Sole Mandates. As a qualified Primary School teacher I learned to deal with people and their needs. This has stood me in good stead when I decided to join the Property game in 1977. I'm registered with the Estate Agency Affairs Board Further qualifications is a CRS (SA) - Certificate Residential Specialist and recently also I achieved my NQF 5 qualification. I am actively involved in charity, in my personal capacity but also with my colleagues at IPC. On a social side I'm a member of the WAA (VLV) which gives me an opportunity to also enjoy and explore my creative side. Over the years MOST of my sales have come from repeat business with happy clients that I dealt with previously. I also feature year after year in IPC's annual " Top 12". Gary Player said: " the harder you practice, the luckier you get" I consider the more than 40 Years in the Property business as great practice and yes, I got luckier and luckier!! I've never regretted the decision to become an Estate Agent.

I started my property career in 1992, after working in a management position for many years. The change proved to be excellent for me, having reaped many successful years in Property. I started with Abel and Nelson, where I won many awards, also wining the first “AGENT OF THE YEAR” Award sponsored by Times Media. I then moved to INDEPENDENT PROPERTY CONSULTANTS where I became a partner in the company. I have consistently remained in the top 3, winning awards on numerous occasions. In 2001 was awarded one of the top 20 Agents in South Africa in the PROPERTY PROFESSIONAL ANNUAL AWARDS. I am very fortunate to have a wonderful husband who understands the “hours” and time spent in the Property world. These hours are very long, including late nights and weekends. At the same time, we do love to travel so set out and plan the time for that as well. I have many hobbies, and somehow do squeeze it all in… Quilting, embroidery (to calm me down) reading, and of course cooking and entertaining. I am very fortunate to be a partner in such a wonderful Company as IPC… and I am sure we will exceed all previous years’ sales, and just keep soaring as the best in PORT ELIZABETH.
I joined the property industry in Bedfordview, Johannesburg in 1990. Following relocation to Port Elizabeth I moved to Pam Golding Properties in 1998. After many years of experience as an employee I decided to join Independent Property Consultants as a principal agent in 2000. In 2010 I was one of the first agents to graduate with an NQF 5 qualification. Being self-employed, I am not restricted to specific suburbs, and sell property successfully throughout the Port Elizabeth area.
